Lakeside Design System
A design system of themes & styles to use across all of Wavy's UI. Components are customized based on tailwind for easy build time.
The product shouldn't feel like just another SaaS tool in someone's workday. We used this design system to evoke a fun, energetic atmosphere with a laidback attitude. Just like lake swims with your friends in the summertime. I was inspired by that feeling as well as comic books: particularly in use of colour, visual hierarchy and clever breaking of the grid.
Fun to use and easy to manage.
We updated the previous darker blue to a cartoon-ish blue that evoked water as you'd see it in an Archie comic, rather than real water (which is always way darker than we think, in nature). I created a scale to maximize use and create an overall ocean surf aesthetic on the screen when used in different areas. It pairs nicely with sunny yellow accent colours. I chose a wide set of size & radius standards while ensuring consistency across colour and type gave us just the right amount of creative freedom.
