Design Story
When Halp asked me to help them create a logo that encapsulates their mission and values, I knew that I had to think outside the box. I needed to create something that resonated with their target demographic and still maintained a modern and professional aesthetic. I always like to start on paper, so I sketched out the logo multiple times to get all my ideas out. I then wrote down some of the keywords the cofounders of Halp gave me to help me decide on a direction.

Based on what they had told me and where my sketches were going, I looked to Y2K aesthetics and made a small moodboard for myself. To get in the right headspace, I also made a playlist which I shared with the founder when I delivered the logo at the end of the project.

We went through a few quick rounds where I made rough drafts of a few of my ideas that I had done on paper. I had a gut feeling about one in particular, but I wanted to make sure that I was on the right track and I wanted Marc and Mat to see all of their options. They ended up going with the same one I had a good feeling about, and through a few rounds of revisions we worked on it from there.
In the end, I developed a logo that embodies a modern and fresh look and feel. The logo design is based on a dynamic, futuristic font and is best suited for a vibrant, eye-catching color palette. The colors and font were carefully chosen to reflect the brand’s mission and values. The logo also features a stylized shooting star, symbolic of the Halp brand's value that when it comes to learning, the sky is not the limit.
Both the primary and secondary logos are composed of two distinct shapes, which creates a sense of motion and energy. I also made sure to include this in the "H" icon variant.


This motion and energy are further amplified by the use of the vibrant colors in the logo and a logo guide that allows the co founders and any designer they work with to be infinitely creative with their use of it.

End result
The result was a logo that conveys Halp’s mission and values while also appealing to their target demographic. The new logo has been well-received and has helped to increase brand awareness and recognition. Halp’s mission of making being an international student easy and accessible is now represented in a modern and eye-catching logo design.
