Hackathon: Message in a Bottle

Message in a Bottle is a Hackathon project designed and built in just two days for the Wavy platform, an online team building tool. The project aimed to provide a fun and engaging way for team members to interact with each other in a lighthearted way, fostering camaraderie and connection.

Message in a Bottle is a Hackathon project designed and built in just two days for the Wavy platform, an online team building tool. The project aimed to provide a fun and engaging way for team members to interact with each other in a lighthearted way, fostering camaraderie and connection.

The Message in a Bottle feature allows users of Wavy to send and receive messages at random. One person has the bottle at a time, and they can rewrite the message and send it to a selected coworker or choose to "send it to the sea," sending it to a random coworker. The messages can be anything from friendly notes to poems, riddles, puns, inside jokes, or anything else the user wishes to share.

To make the feature fun and engaging, we intentionally used a lighthearted and silly interface, animations, and interactions. We incorporated comic book-style illustrations and used IM Fell and Comic Sans fonts to give the feature a tongue-in-cheek look and feel. We made sure to keep the user experience fun and interactive, providing users with a playful and enjoyable way to communicate with their coworkers.

Throughout the development process, we tested the feature with real users to ensure that it was easy to use and provided the intended level of engagement. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with users enjoying the playful and creative nature of the feature.

At this time, the feature is not yet live for users, but we are actively working on integrating it into the Wavy platform. We believe that Message in a Bottle will provide a unique and engaging way for team members to connect and communicate, helping to foster a sense of community and collaboration within organizations.

Overall, the Message in a Bottle Hackathon project was a successful collaboration between designers and developers, resulting in a fun and engaging feature that will undoubtedly enhance the Wavy user experience.
